Digital Extensions of Learning, Presented by Melissa Jacobs-Israel
The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and their growing following call for unprecedented use of nonfiction texts in our K–12 classrooms. This presentation highlights exemplary nonfiction online resources, models strategies for guiding students’ comprehension and inquiry and addresses distinctions between working with electronic and paper-based texts. After this workshop, participants will be able to: Extend student conversations and inquiry with multimedia resources including apps and websites, Articulate the difference and value of both book apps and ebooks, Apply strategies for guiding students through the inquiry process using digital resources. Hilda Weisburg will be our special guest and will have her new young adult novel, Woven Through Time, available for purchase and signing.
