Linwood Public Library Director, works closely with the Board of Trustees, must be comfortable wearing many hats from community leader, administrator grant writer. The mission of the Linwood Library is to provide an environment where patrons of all ages can meet their education, informational and recreational needs.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following is a partial list of duties required of the Director. The list is not intended to serve as the comprehensive list of all duties performed.
Manage the day-to-day operations of the Library:
Lead, develop, administer, assess, and coordinate the work of the Library staff.
Perform managerial duties related to personnel, budget, payroll and benefits, collection development, technology, and building maintenance
Ensure the delivery of high-quality library programs and services the community
Prepare all required City and State reports
Knowledge and compliance with New Jersey State library law
Pursue financial support on local, state, and national levels:
Actively seek grants and partnerships tenhance library programming and services
Advise and support the Friends of the Library
Collaborate with the Board of Trustees:
Evaluate Library performance and effectiveness
Develop and implement policies and procedures
Review and revise strategic plan as needed
Identify and address relevant financial, operational, staffing, and facility matter
Oversee preparation of monthly financial reports and annual Library operating budget, including revenue/expenditure history, analysis, and future projections
Develop and maintain relationships with the community, including local governments, businesses, schools, and community service organizations:
Responsible for creating an environment that welcomes all users and staff
Represent the Library at meetings and workshops
Attend community events
QUALIFICATIONS: A Master’s degree in Library or Information Sciences in a library program accredited by the American Library Association or from a New Jersey College Master’s program in Library Science deemed acceptable by Thomas Edison State College. Municipal library experience suggested.

Lower School Library Media Specialist
Princeton Day School is seeking a Lower School Library Media Specialist to begin in the 2024-25 school year to lead a service-oriented library and educational technology program that fully incorporates a variety of print and digital resources. The Lower School Library Media Specialist will work collaboratively with colleagues, demonstrate a passion for students and their literacy development, and embrace the dynamic nature of libraries and technology in education.
Leader: The Lower School Library Media Specialist will oversee the library facility, curriculum, and resources to create a welcoming, innovative learning environment. They will provide leadership in the selection, acquisition, evaluation, and organization of print and digital resources to develop a library and technology program that meets the diverse needs of the PDS Lower School community. The Library Media Specialist will effectively delegate library and technology support tasks to the Lower School Library Media Assistant.
Instructional Partner: The Library Media Specialist will collaborate with faculty to build and strengthen connections among the literacy and information needs of students, curricular content, and the library. They will be an expert in promoting children’s literature, lead inquiry research units, and teach information literacy and digital citizenship skills. They will design a curriculum utilizing a wide variety of technological and library resources to ensure that students and staff are effective and ethical users of technology and information. They will empower students to be enthusiastic readers, as well as skillful inquirers.
Technology Specialist: The Library Media Specialist will be experienced in an array of educational and library technologies. They will provide leadership in the selection, acquisition, evaluation, vetting, implementation, and support of technologies for use in the Lower School. The Library Media Specialist will report to the Head of Libraries, the Director of Academic Technology, and the Lower School Division Head. They will liaise directly with the IT Department to ensure the division’s technology needs are addressed.
