Kent Place School (Summit, Union County) seeks a Middle and Upper School Librarian to be responsible for all cataloging and technical services functions for both the Middle and Upper School Library and the Primary School Library. Key duties include processing and cataloging all acquisitions for the MS/US and Primary libraries and maintaining the library catalog. In addition to technical services responsibilities, the librarian serves as reference librarian as needed, coordinates interlibrary loan activity, maintains the patron database and performs inventory functions, orders supplies and processes invoices.
As a member of the school community, the Middle and Upper School Librarian also serves as a Middle School Advisor, serves on school committees and task forces, and chaperones and otherwise provides coverage for events, groups and individuals throughout the year.
A minimum of three years prior library experience, preferably in technical services and information literacy, is required; a degree in librarianship and prior experience in education is preferred. Strong oral and written communication skills; time management and organizational skills; ability to collaborate and work well with others; commitment to diversity and inclusivity and ability to work in a diverse community and support the implementation of the school's plan for diversity, equity and inclusion are essential; proficiency in Google Suite and learning management systems is a plus. After school hours are required, and evening hours may be required for meetings and community events.
