NJASL Mentoring Program

The mission of the NJASL Mentoring Program for New Jersey School Library Media Specialists (SLMS) is to assign an established Mentor for one year to work with a new School Library Media Specialist to help acclimate them on how to effectively operate and support a school library media program.

The mentor's purpose is to guide the first year librarian as they develop their own unique and pivotal role within the learning community of their school district. It is hoped that through this collaboration the new School Library Media Specialist will be able to develop and carry out their own vision for a student-centered library media program that is based on the AASL National School Library Standards.
