New Librarians
The mission of the Mentoring Program for the New Jersey School Library Media Specialists (SLMS) is to assign an established Mentor, for one year, to work with a new School Library Media Specialist to help acclimate them on how to effectively operate and support a school library media program.

The mentor's purpose it to guide the first year librarian, as they develop their own unique and pivotal role within the learning community, of their school district. It is hoped that through this collaboration the new School Library Media Specialist will be able to develop and carry out their own vision for a student-centered library media program that is based on the three central ideas from Information Power: collaboration, leadership, and technology.
